Privacy Policy

The short version. You sign in with Google — we never see a password. Everything you add belongs to you and is visible only to you. Your uploaded documents are encrypted and stored in Australia, are never reachable by public links, and are only served to your own signed-in session. We don't run ads, don't sell data, and don't use trackers. Deleting your account erases everything, immediately, for real.
What we collect
- Account details — when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile photo and a Google account identifier. We never receive or store a password.
- What you add to Realokate — your household members and their details, move origin/destination and dates, visa type, tasks, budgets and expenses, and the documents and files you upload. You control all of it; add only what you need.
- Kate conversations — messages you send to Kate, our AI assistant (see “Kate & AI” below).
- Security signals — we use Google's reCAPTCHA Enterprise (App Check) to verify requests come from the genuine app. Standard, short-lived hosting logs (IP address, request time) are kept by our hosting provider.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, and we do not sell or share your data for marketing.
Where your data lives
- Uploaded documents (passports, contracts, etc.) are stored in Google Cloud Storage in Sydney, Australia (australia-southeast1), encrypted at rest and in transit.
- App data (tasks, household, budgets) is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, United States multi-region), encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Kate chat history is stored on your own device, not on our servers.
How your documents are protected
- Access requires your live Google sign-in — every single read is checked against owner-only security rules. There are no shareable or permanent download links.
- Opening a document after 15 minutes of inactivity re-asks for your Google account.
- Location and device metadata (EXIF/GPS) is stripped from photos before upload.
- Only the genuine Realokate app can talk to our backend (Google App Check attestation).
- Every document open, upload and delete is recorded in a tamper-resistant activity trail visible only to you.
- Files can never be made public — public access is disabled at the infrastructure level.
Kate & AI
When you talk to Kate, your message (and relevant move context you've entered) is processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate the reply, via our own server so no API credentials ever reach your device. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. Your uploaded document files are never sent to Kate or any AI system unless a future feature asks for your explicit permission first.

Retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. Settings → Delete Account permanently erases everything — all documents and files, app data, and the activity trail — and removes your account itself. Storage backups clear within 7 days. You can export your data (JSON) from Settings at any time.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act (and the GDPR where it applies) you can access, correct, export or erase your data — all available directly in the app, or by emailing us. Complaints can be raised with us first, or with the OAIC (Australia) or your local data protection authority.
Children
Realokate accounts are for adults. Details about children in your household (such as first names and ages) are added by you, the responsible adult, solely to plan your family's move.
Cookies & local storage
We use only what's essential: Google sign-in session state and your device's local storage (so the app works offline). No advertising or cross-site cookies. This site is protected by reCAPTCHA Enterprise; the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we'll note it here and in the app before it takes effect.
